“ Rounded Edges ”

Acrylic on Canvas

About

This piece tells the story of a journey through a lifetime. We often get overwhelmed in change, not understanding it as an opportunity for growth. The fear of the future can be removed by taking guidance from our elders. In the end, we learn that the choices we’ve made are shaped by intuition to begin with.

Rounded Edges, the poem

One simple behavior unbeknownst to us,

the act of asking for forgiveness,

in a world we did not choose to exist.

Artifacts that remain consistent within it;

the sun, the land. Its ability to repeat itself.

The air circulates a whisper of a previous life,

yet we move with the weight that they carried.

You’ve searched endlessly;

turned corners you know have been turned before.

A star guides, as they do.

Through a window, you peered,

only to find that very vision, an alternate generation.

What does the taste of the waves tell you?

Have you seen what’s behind your shoulder?

A moment you wouldn’t have predicted.

Oh how your edges have softened,

now that you know,

forgiveness was an obligation for introduction.
